Enlarged Glands in abdomen

Is it normal for a 5yr old to have enlarged glands in his abdomen?

This is not normal as such but may occur in young children following a 'strep' throat or tonsil infection causing a condition called 'mesenteric adenitis'.Mesenteric adenitis is a relatively common cause of enlarged abdominal glands. Mesenteric adenitis is usually diagnosed when young children complain about quite severe tummy ache. There are other causes as well of enlarged abdominal glands so it is important that your son has a blood test to exclude other possible causes.
