Q.

Eltroxin and calcium

My 5 year old daughter has Down Syndrome. She was diagnosed with low throid function at 1 year old and has been on Eltroxin since then. Is Eltroxin linked to calcium in take issues? Should she be getting additional dairy to aid in getting sufficient calcium. She asks for milk frequently and currently drinks about 500m - 1 litre of milk a day.
thank you

Eltroxin is not known to interfere with calcium absorption from the diet. The body is very selective in absorbing the rright amount of calcium from the diet and there is no harm in giving extra calcium or milk to your daughter.
