Q.

ECZEMA AND GOATS MILK

My son is 19 mths old and suffers from severe eczema. Blood tests for allergy to milk was negative. I notice the eczema worsens when he is outdoors playing in grass or sand and further when I give him yogurt. He is currently on Parmalat Growing up Milk. I have been told to try goats milk - What is your opinion on this- I have tried everything and been to dermatologists but nothing seems to help- I am desperate!!

Your baby is not allergic to milk so there is no need to try goat's milk. Goat's milk is rather rich and many babies don't like it at all. Also it is deficient in an essential vitamin called Folic acid and children run the risk of developing anaemia.I would strongly advise you to take your baby to see a paediatric allergist. There are experts in all the main centres in SA. If you have any trouble finding one of these experts let me know which city you live in and I will recommend someone to you.
