Q.

Ecoli bact.

My 4 year old daughter complains of burning wee. Dr. found ecoli in her urine &  sent us to urologist who wants to do further testing by putting her under anaesthetic. I don' t think it' s necessary and also very nervous about anaesth. for kids. What complications could ecoli bacteria have and do you think it' s necessary we put her through all this.

It is not usually necessary to require an aneasthetic to do the next important test which is usually an ultra sound examination. Please speak to your paediatrician about this.
