Eating &  running tummy

Dear Doc

My little one is 10 mnths old, for the last 2 weeks she doesn''t want to eat, she only eats poridge (half the usual portion), will eat marie-biscuits, yoghurt, but no veggies. She has about 4 bottles of milk (NAN HA 180ml) per day, she''s not loosing weight, very active. Also her tummy is very soft, somedays it would crawl out that nappy, the creche said numerous times she got a tummy bug, but she''s got no fever, no signs for being ill, she always laughs and is crawling a lot, like I said, very active. What I would like to know, should I be concern and is there anything I can give her for her tummy?

Your advice would be highly appreciated

You say that your baby does not appear to be ill but only her stools are very loose. She is not vomiting which is a good sign. It is possible that she has a mild gastro caused by a virus. Other possibilities are a milk allergy or possibly lactose intolerance. Try her on a dairy free diet for at least 3 days. Put her on a soya formula such as Isomil. Don't forget to stop the yoghurt and also any cereals which may contain milk such as Cerelac. If she improves continue on the soya formula and keep up the dairy free diet for at least 3 months.
