ears in bath water

my 22 month old son likes to lay flat on his back in bath water, sometimes with bubble bath in it as well, and the water goes up until just past his ears. is this bad for his ears in any way?

It is not a good idea to get bathwater with bubble bath in your son's ears. This water is very alkaline from the bubble bath and can interfere with the natural defence mechanisms of the skin lining his ears and also interfere with the ear wax in his ears.Some children develop a difficult ear problem called otitis externa as a result.
