Q.

Ear Wax

Hello Professor,

How do I clean my children''s ears? My 3 year old has flaking wax that comes out of his ear and I just wipe it with the face cloth when I bath him, but I can still see the flakes in the ear canal.

Thanks

Ear wax is a natural defence mechanism in the ear canal. As long as the wax does not build up and is not causing any problems with hearing there is no need to stuggle to remove ear wax. In most cases the body naturally gets rid of excess wax. Just continue to clean your children's ears as you are doing. If you try to clear this wax with an ear bud you may simply push it further into the ear canal and up against the ear drums.
