Q.

Dry skin on face

My 2,5 year old' s skin on his face is extremely dry, to the point of it becoming red and sometimes flakey. I never use soap on his face, I wash it with warm water and a face cloth, and sometimes when he has finished eating, I use a perfume-free wetwipe (Pigeon). I was told to use Epizone E ointment, which I use to wash his body (it' s also dry, but nothing like his face) - I apply it every morning and every night. After using this for a few days, there was no improvement, so I bought E45 cream, which I have been applying first, then applying the Epizone E over it. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks now, and there is still no improvement. Normally every winter his skin is quite dry, but his face has never been this bad. It is dry mainly on his cheeks, chin and little bit on his eyelids.

What can I use to help clear this up, as the winter weather has only just started and it' s already like this.

This is a good question. Unfortnately it is difficult for me to diagnose your son's skin condirtion without being able to see him. What you need is a diagnosis of his skin problem. You have tried usually effective treatment for his dry skin with no benefit to him so it is time to take him to see a skin specialist [dermatologist] in order to get a clear diagnosis of his problem and the correct tretament. Take the moisturisers you have tried so far along with you to show the dermatologist.
