Dry lips and breathing problem

Hello Dr.
I''ve got a 11 months old baby boy.
he''s lips have been dry for a week now, and as you can imagine it''s difficult to put on Vaseline on his lips as he wipes it away or eats it, is there anything i can use or is he suffering from something else?
he also breaths with his mouth not nose and has runny nose!
Please help!
Thanking you.

Your baby's very dry lips are due to his constant mouth breathing. This is due to his blocked nose. So you need to clear up his blocked nose. Then he will be able to breathe through his nose again. Use Salex nose drops twice day. Gently wipe his nose with a soft tissue before using the Salex drops.Continue to rub a very small amount of Vaseline into his dry lips at least once a day. If his nose does not clear up after 10 days of using the Salex drops then he may have enlarged and infected adenoids and he should be seen by an ENT specialist.
