Q.

Dry cough

Good morning Doc
My son is 2 yrs and 10 mnths. He has a dry cough in the morning and during the night. He had a cold about 2 weeks ago but that has cleared up. Besides the cough he is otherwise healthy and has a healthy appetite. He doesn''t have any allergies. He doesn''t cough during the day only in the morning and during the night. What do you suggest I give him?

This kind of cough is often due to asthma and is usually the first sign of asthma in a young child like your son. He should be seeen by a paediatrician so that a clear diagnosis can be made of the reason for his cough.
