Q.

Droopy eyes

Hi Prof Eugene Weinberg,

My 17 month old baby daughter (born via ceasarean section) has droopy eyes.

I will take her to the paediatrician anyways, but I' d appreciate the opinion of a highly regarded experienced healthcare professional such as yourself.

Thanks.

Paediatrician

The medical name for droopy eyelids is ptosis. It is usually due to weakness of the muscles which open the eyelids. It is essential to consult a paediatrician about your baby's ptosis as both eyes are affected and certain conditions have to be excluded. The problem can certainly be corrected if this is found to be necessary by an eye surgeon.
