Q.

My baby is 3 and a half months old and when last weighed was 6.7 kg ... My problem is this he had grommetts inserted last Friday and also had his adenoids removed at the same time...before the opp he drank and could finish a 180ml (Isomil) bottle no problem......On the day of the opp and the next day he could hardly drink his bottle he drank about 20mls and then got what seemed like a wind was burped and then did not drink any more..... its now Monday and he only about manages 60- 80 mls a feed if that and then does not drink anymore as he cries and wriggles as if he has a wind, burps but cannot drink anymore as if something (like a wind is pressing) ....I am worried that he will loose weight due to not drinking more .... please help

Also could a baby have reflux without actually vomiting?

Paediatrician

Your baby would not suddenly develop reflux after an operation. This problem with feeding is common after an operation or hospital admission in young infants and children. The problem here may be aggravated by a blocked nose after the adenoidectomy due to local swelling. Use saline nose drops at least 3 times a day to clear your baby's nose. If he is no better after 2 days maximum please contact your paediatrician as I am concerned that will become dehydrated.
