Drinking too much

My son is 2 seems to be drinking quite a lot of liquids. During the day at creche he has about 300ml 3 times a day, then when I fetch him, he wants more juice (about 300ml). He drinks 200ml milk to go to sleep, and then during the night he wakes wanting more to drink, and has about 400ml of water/tea/milk. Then when he wakes up, he can easily drink another 200ml of juice.

He does have a slight blocked nose during the night, which is why I give him something to drink, as he is thirsty because he has been breathing through his mouth.

He is being potty trained at creche, which is going well, however, during the night, he sometimes goes through 3 full nappies (obviously because he is drinking so much).

Should I be worried that there is something wrong? At first I thought waking during the night was just habit, but he went through about 3 weeks sleeping through, then he got sick, and since then (about 1,5 months) he is back to waking up to 3 times a night wanting something to drink.

I know it is also hot, and I don' t want to deny him fluids, but could there be something wrong? Please advise.

Your son is ceratinly drinking an enormous amount of fluid per day. He is also passing lots of urine. His excessive thirst and the amount of urine he passes may be symptoms of diabetes. Please have him checked for this possible cause as soon as possible.
