Q.

Dosage and volume of Amoxycillan

Dear Paed

A more practical question - my sons (one is 4 and the other 1 yo) were prescribed amoxicillan last week. The older one 250 mg and the younger one 125 mg of which they both take 3 x 5 ml per day. The stuff tastes horrible, so its a HUGE struggle to get it down my little one''s throat. Much gets spilled. My question is, why not prescribe 2.5 ml of the 250 mg for the little people so that its a smaller volume to get in? 5 ml is quite a lot for a 1 year old.
