Do i need to panic??

Hi! My 9 month old baby fell from his cot bed, he hit the floor with his head. I took him to the dr the next morning and she examined him and said there is no need to worry. But i cant help wondering if there is any damage to his brain or skull. Not that i dont trust the dr. Can i take him somewhere for an x-ray or scalp sonar without the dr'  s reference letter? just to put my mind at ease. I am worried about the long term effect.

It does seem that your baby fell quite hard onto his head. By now you would know if he has developed any problems as he would be drowsy and difficult to wake or be very irritable and in particular would vomit any food he eats. If you remain concerned about him it is best to take him to an emergency paediatric unit where he can be fully examined including having a CT scan.
