Q.

Digestion and bowel movements

Hi there. My daughter is 1 year old. For the past 2 months her tummy has been very loose (almost watery) and she can have a movement anywhere between 2 and 7 times a day. Also she seems to digest her food very quickly, as food she has eaten for lunch can be seen in her movement at 5pm. Is this normal and what should or can I do?
Thank you!

You ask if this is normal. No it is not. Your baby daughter appears to have developed an intolerance to a food. The most common cause of the symptoms you describe here is a wheat and gluten intolerance.Cow's milk intolerance is also a possibility. It would be best to ask your paediatrician to see your baby and to do tests to either confirm or exclude the possible diagnosis of a wheat or cow's milk intolerance.
