Q.

Did not complete Amoxil course

Dear doctor

My baby is 4months old. The peadiatrician prescribed Amoxil for him on Monday 9 March 2009 because he had a blocked nose. He was supposed to go for his last injections (that one for the hipatites B...... etc.) today (Tuesday 19 March 2009). I stoped giving him the amoxil on monday 18 March 2009 because I wanted to take him for his injection. So I did not complete the course. Storks nest advised me that I should wait 7 day in any way before he can have his injections. Did I do very wrong in not completing the course. Will it mess up his immune system? i am more concerned about getting his last injections.

Normally the Amoxil course is for 5 days. Your baby had this antibiotic for 1 week so you have given him more than enough. There is nothing to worry about. If he is now well he can have his HepatitisB immunisation.
