This is very difficult to answer with certainty. Your little stepson has really had a difficult and traumatic time so far and he could well be having bad dreams as a result of this. Then one should remember that children of this age can often have night terrors without there being any psychological upsets in their lives.Your little son needs lots and lots of love and reassurance and stability in his life. When he wakes go to him and reassure him and then leave the room.He will gradually settle down and the bad dreams will become less. Make sure that you spend quality time with him before bedtime and read a happy book to him before he falls asleep. Put a nightlight in his room.
