Q.

Crusty Armpit

Hello

My five year old son gets this crusty layer in his armpits. It comes off when he scrubs it when he takes a shower. The skin does look a bit raw but doesnt hurt. He does say that it itches at time. What could it be?

It is difficult to be sure about your son's skin rash without being able to see him. He may have a fungal infection called tinea or this layer you describe in his armpits may be a skin condition called seborrhoea. In any case he needs to be seen by a dermatologist so that a proper diagnosis can be made and the correct treatment advised.
