Creche for 1 year old

Dear Prof, we would appreciate your advise please! Our 1 year old baby girl is at creche for the last month. We have a sleep-in lady who looked after her from when she was 4 months old until she went to creche. We still have the sleep-in lady. We are hearing very conflicting opinions as to whether a baby at this age does actually benefit from attending a creche, whether they do learn things, learn to play with other babies, etc. Most people say that a baby only really start to interact with other children from age 2 years and that we should keep her at home (she will obviously be more healthy!). Is this true? I''m just scared that she does not develope to her full potential when being at home, alone with only the care giver (the lady is not trained but she has raised her own children). But then I''m told that children " develop on their own"  and that she will learn everything on her own, the creche only change diapers, feed and do the basics, not really " teaching"  them anything, because they simply do not have time to spent with each child individually.
We are in 2 minds!! Your expert advise will be highly appreciated!

Thank you. This is really quite easy to answer. Always keep your baby at home if you can. Being at a Creche during the winter months where so many children will have coughs and colds is not the place for a baby of 1 year. This will only be of benefit to her and will not affect her development in any way.

My opinion: ask the creche what they do!
My little girl had to go to " school"  at eight months. I was totally against it, but thats the way it worked out.

They started drawing and painting in her first week! Something I never tried at home, and she loved it.
Every morning she smiled at the other babies and really looked happy to see them. She interacted with them right from the start, her teacher thought that she is used to having other kids around (she was not)
But this differs from baba to baby. Personalities differs.

Also they did baby gymnastics once a week - on a big excersize ball - she loved this! Cried when her turn was over.

See how your child acts. In one month you should be able to see if she has " grown"  Did she pick up words? Has her confidence changed? Does she notice other babies when your in a shop?

Surely there is different opinions out there, you should decide what is best for your baby.
I do think that these days kids do need to go to some kind of daycare before grade 0, but you as parents should decide when. From what I read and hear people feel that 2 is a good time to start as they don''t get that sick anymore.

I believe it depends on the daycare centre and your babies personality.

Trust your instincts.
