Q.

Crawling Concern

Hi Doctor, please could you assist me. My baby is almost 13 months and he doesn' t want to crawl, the minute that he goes on his tummy he rolls the other way. He is doing a lot of ' bum shaffling' , he keeps one leg straight and the he bends the other leg. He is able to hold on to furniture by himself but he is not able to pull himself up. I saw the clinic sister last week and she mentioned that I should take my baby for therapy to assist with the crawling and the walking. Please could you advise on what your thoughs are regarding this therapy. Is there a need for concern at this point?Otherwise he is a happy and healthy baby. Many Thanks.

There is no need for any concern now. Many babies completely pass over the crawling stage and never crawl at all. They simply start pulling themselves up and then start walking.Your baby seems to be getting ready to start walking quite soon.
