Q.

Cramps

Good morning Doc

I have a little boy who is turning 2 in March. Recently he has been suffering with stomach cramps before his stools. His stools are quite soft. This morning we see he had cramps in his sleep and awoke with his stool been green. Is this normal as someone has said this could be as he is geeting his molar teeth. After his stools he feels kind of relieved.

This may be the start of a common problem at this age known as toddlers diarrhoea. Often with this condition the stools are not very watery just soft and more frequent. The usual cause is too much fruit juice and fruit in the diet. Try cutting out fruit juice completely and also all fruit for 3 or 4 days. If he improves you can reintroduce fruit but not fruit juice.
