Q.

Coughing with vomiting

Good Morning. My LG is 18 months old and have been coughing for more than a week. She starts to coughs and then vomits. I took het to the dr on Monday. He gave her Zitromax as he said she have severe sinisitis. He also gave us Bisolvin mixed with Celestamine to give. I have a problem giving that during the day as she attends day care and it makes her sleepy. He suggested that I give her Allecet during the day and normal Bisolvin. He gave Otrivin for her nose. He also presribed pulmicort and combivent inhalations 2 times a day. I rub her with Carvol and put some in the humidifier in her room at night. When she coughs it sound like a lot of phlegm but the dr said her chest is clear and that its just the post nasal dripMy problem is that she doesn' t seem to get better. She is still vomiting espesially at night. I give her Viral guard extra. Anything else I can do?

Stop all these medicines. Your little toddler has whooping cough.Go back to your paediatrician and inform him/her that you wrote to Health24 and this is the diagnosis of your child's illness. She must be placed on the correct treatment for this illness. Whooping cough is very difficult to treat and the cough may persist for as long as 3 months.
