Coughing / asthma

My 3 yr old girl has been diagnosed with asthma, but she is still trying to recover from her illness over the last few weeks. Does it take longer for someone with ashma to recover from flu? We have to use her ashma pump twice a day now and she''s on the neubilizer as well. And my other question....... can the flu shot make you sick? The day after I had my flu shot I got sick, runny nose, coughing and everything. My LG of 1 yr old also suffers from these symptoms.

You are correct it can take a longer time than usual for children with asthma to get over a chest infection, sometimes as long as 6 weeks. This is why children with asthma are sometimes given a short course of a safe cortisone syrup such as Prelone syrup for a few days to speed up the recovery process. The flu vaccination may cause a mild fever but is unlikely to cause the typical symptoms of a cold such as you have now.It sounds as if your baby also has a cold.
