Q.

Coughing

My son has been on Zinnat for a upper respitory infection. With the Zinnat the GP has also prescribed celestamine but I chose to rather use AP Loratadine (2.5 ml morning and evening) muscospect (5 ml x 3) and Avamys. His antibiotics is now finished and he has started coughing again. Doens''t seem to have mucus in his chest but in his throat. He is not highly allergic His nose is not running so I am not sure where the mucus and post nasal drip can be coming from? Is he still recovering from the URI? Does doctor have any clue as to what we can do re treatment?
Thank you

Your son [age?]appears to still have a cough due to a post nasal drip following his recent upper respiratory infection. You do not see any discharge of mucus from his nose but the mucus is running down backwards from his nose into his throat and upper airway. Keep his nose clear by using Salex nose drops or Sterimar nasal spray twice a day. Loratidine will not help as this is not an allergic problem, nor will the Avamys spray.Keep up with the Mucospect twice daily.
