hi. I have a 9 month old baby girl that had a bit of a cold about 3 weeks ago, but she has this chesty cough that is not going away, it seems to be a post nasal drip that is causing the problem, she does sleep elevated at night, but she coughs a lot specially at night. I was giving her bisolvin linctus which didnt really help and i stopped giving it to her after 3 days. She has no temperature and she is eating well. She does on occasion vomit when she coughs which is not pleasant. Please advise if i need to take her to the doctor or just see how it goes? Is there anything I can give her?

This is probably a viral infection of your baby's chest following a cold. This illness with cough as the main symptom is known as bronchiolitis. This illness can take up to 3 weeks to clear up by itself. The main thing is that your little baby is feeding well and is not obviously ill. It is important to keep her nose open so that she can breathe through her nose. Use saline nose drops at least twice daily to clear her nose. Also give her Mucospect syrup twice daily to clear the mucous from her chest. A probiotic will help to boost her immunity and help to shorten the duration of her illness. Try Reuteri drops 5 drops daily for 10 days.
