Q.

Cough and phlegm

I took my son (2 years) to the doctor last week Tuesday for coughing, running nose and has a lot phlegm in his chest. The doctor prescribed Flusin C DM, Rinex and Augemitin (antibiotic). He was getting well, but he started coughing again. Is there anything I can give him ti stop the cough and take the phlegm away?

it sounds like your young son has an RS virus infection of his chest. This usually takes about 10 days to get better. Antibiotics do not help at all.The other medicines he is on will make him feel miserable and both contain the same ingredient called pseudoephedrine which is not recommended for children 2 years and younger.Keep his nose clear by using Sterimar nasal spray twice daily. Also give him Mucospect syrup 5 ml twice daiy to clear the mucous from his chest.
