Hi Prof
My 2yr old toddler has had what sounds like a post nasal drip cough for a few weeks. He however does not have a runny nose. He has no fever or any other signs that he is unwell. Should I be concerned and take him to the doctor or just let it run its course? I am desperately trying to use salex to clear up whatever is there and causing the cough but my efforts are in vain as he screams as though one would think I am about to hurt him. He cries so that whatever small amount of salex goes in comes right out with tears and mucous from crying.
My only concern is that the horrible cough mainly during the night and in the morning has been dragging out for some time.
Thank you for your advise and for supporting this forum. We are very lucky to have the service available to us and I am most grateful.

You are very welcome.I am not convinced that your little son has a post nasal drip problem. I think that his cough may be due to asthma or some other cause, but asthma is the most likely. Please ask your paediatrician to see him.
