Q.

Cough

Dear Doc

My son is nearly 7 months. He has a terrible cough - he sounds rather " chesty"  when he coughts.

Please advise what I can give him?

Thank you.

Your baby sounds as if he has bronchiolitis which is a viral infection of his chest. As he has a bad cough it would be best for him to be seen by your doctor.

My baby of 7 months old also have a terrible cough. She coughs more at night which wakes her up. I took her to the doctor last week and luckily it' s just a viral infection which means no antibiotics. He told me to neubilize her twice a day for 4 days again and I use Flexinoise (spelling ?) for her nose. I believe in that, but you need a script for it. My doc also said that it is teething. She' s cutting her bottom tooth and I saw another one coming out at the top. Just give her saline to clear her nose (that' s what I do). Good luck. I know where you are at the moment.
