Q.

cough

I realise this is a common question at the moment but my 3 year old has developed a dry, croup sounding cough at night which I suspect is related to a post nasal drip. She has recently recovered from pneumonia and has asthma, using budeflam inhaler twice a day. She is also on allecet and I use salex drops in her nose, I also put a humidifier in her room. She still coughs! What else could this be?

This sounds like an illness called tracheitis which is usually due to a viral infection. The cough can be very persistent and long-lasting.Your daughter is on the correct treatment. Give her Aterax syrup 5ml at night to stop her coughing.Aterax is a safe antihistamine that helps to stop this kind of cough.
