Q.

Cot and dummy

Hi, my daughter is now 26 months and still in a cot. She seems quite comfortable in it for now. I was wondering, when is it time to change to a bed? Also, she loves her dummy. Doesn''t have it at school, but as soon as she gets in the car she asks for it, and I eventually give in. Can I let her have it just for sleeping? or should she give it up completely now. I would hate to cause damage to her teeth. She''s talking beautifully, so I know its not hindering her speech development.

Your little girl is old enough to move to her own bed now. She should be able to give up her dummy quite easily as she goes without it while at school. Cut a small piece off the teat of the dummy, gradually shortening it day by day until she hardly has anything to suck on.She will probably decide to give up the dummy all by hereslf when the teat is so small that she cannot suck on it any more.
