Good day Doctor

My son is 2yrs5months and has been having seizures everytime his temperature would go up.

He went for CT scan, MRI and EEG and found that there is nothing from his brain that could trigger these seizures.

Now he is on Epilim, 4mls 3times a day to try and suppress these seizures, i have noticed that even when he gets a temp, he doesnt get the convulsions anymore, i also make sur ethat i have Voltaren supposetories and carry Loterm with me wherever i go.

Does this mean the medication is working and that chances of his having convulsions are now slim?

I am worried because it gets very scary when it happens

Thank you in advance.

Your little son has a very common problem that mainly affects children under 3 years. This condition is known as fever seizures or febrile convulsions. Your son has been very well tested and investigated by his doctor and he does not have epilepsy. He definitely has fever seizures. He is on good treatment. You can expect him to outgrow his tendency to have fever seizures quite soon, but it would be worthwhile continuing on the Epilim until he is 3 years old.
