Q.

constipation in 2 month old

Hi Doc,
My baby is 8 weeks old and is suffering from constipation. If I do not hold her legs up so that she can push against me she does not pass a stool at all. The stools are green in colour and quite firm and large and I worry about her little anus tearing from the size of these stools.
She is on her 2nd tin of Isomil because my doc said she had a milk allergy because she had a rash on her face which has not really improved since she swapped from Nan 1 to the Isomil.
She did not seem to have constipation on Nan 1 - should I switch her back to that? I really want to do whats best for her and I am worried about switching formula''s yet again.
Thanks/Angela.

You must immediately stop the Isomil which is constipating your bay . Change back to the NAN 1 again. The rash on her face is not an allergy. This rash is called milia and is very common in young babies. It will soon disappear by itself. Do not apply any ointments to the rash.
