Dear Doc,
My babay is 10 weeks old and has had constipation from of 8weeks when I switched to Bottle Feeding. First I was on Novalac AC, but then switched to Novalac AR due to him having reflux (bringing up milk every so often). After I feed him he doesn''t want to lie ons his back. I have to keep him upright for about 15minutes before attempting to lie him down. He moans and groans alot, kicks his legs constantly and has hard poop. Is the moaning and kicking from being constipapted? I''ve given him Lacson syrup. He still kicked and moaned alot (especially before and after a sleep). I inserted a baby glicerine set pill and almost immediately he pushed out a softer poop. I inserted the same one again and more poop came out. When he was smaller the same thing happened when he was on breastmilk. It''s as if a plug forms in his anus. What can I do, because the fact that he is clogged/constipated is disturbing his sleeping patterns and he is very " busy" .

Your baby's tendency to be a constipated baby is being aggravated by the special anti-reflux formula he is on. Change him to a formula for constipated babies such as Lactogen 1 or the special Novalac IT formula. Your baby is too young to need Lacson. He will need other anti-reflux treatment so speak to your paediatrician about this.

Hi There

My little one was exactly the same she is now nearly 18 months old and most of the time only has little hard poops at a time. I use lacson once a week to help soften her tummy as i dont want her system to get used to it. This usualy help for a few days after ishe has had a good poop. But eventualy reverts back to the hard poops. I can say that she doesnt get the " plug"  anymore that was a big problem. She eats everything, and get all her veg in on a daily baisis. So i can tell you that it will get better. But this does seem to be a common problem that no one tells you about.
