Q.

Constipation

My 2 years 7 months daughter has serious constipation problems and this has been happening for some time, even when I give her fresh milk to drink, nothing happens to her stomach, she cries very bad when she has to go to the toilet. I will appreciate if you can suggest some medication that she can take to assist and some diet tips.

From a dietary point of view it is essential to boost your daughter's intake of water, fibre rich foods such as Weet Bix and whole wheat bread and give her plenty of fruit including soft well cooked stewed fruit and diluted fruit juice. You can try Duphalac 5ml twice daily for 14 days to help her get over this present constipation. She must not have more than 2 cups of milk per day.
