Constant cough

My 6 yr old son suffers with a constant cough, sometimes in the day or night. He has had his tonscils &  adenoids removed. Is it an allergy or asthma? I don' t think it is asthma as he breathes normal and there is no shortness of breath, but the cough is constant. His pead has said to nuberlise when severe and has prescribed Deselex.Could it be PND? An ENT has said to use Flixonase to clear all mucose from the nostrils. We don' t know what more to do? Please advise!

I suspect that your son has asthma. This is the way in which asthma usually starts in young children. As the diagnosis has not been made by his doctors it would be best for him to be seen by a paediatrician with an interest in allergy or pulmonology. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
