Q.

CONCERNED WEIGHT

Hi Prof,

My son is 22 months old. He weighs 11kg and his 79cm. He seems very small to the rest of his class. He was born at 48cm and 3.2 kg at 40 weeks. He does not like to really eat and I would like to know what can I give him to improve his appetite

Many thanks

You are welcome. Your son's weight is just slightly below the average [11.5kg] for a boy of his age, but he is much smaller than average [86cm] Many children of this age do not eat as well as they may have done in the first 18 months or so of their life. This is usually just a temporary problem.Let him join the family for meals and just put his food in front of him and give him a spoon to feed himself. He will watch you and should start eating better after a short time. Don't watch him all the time while he is eating.
