You have made a good observation. If this little boy's stools are very loose and yellow it usually is due to a condition called 'toddler's diarrhoea'.This is a temporary condition and will go away. It is thought to be due to an immature digestive system especially in the last part of the intestines called the colon. Here water is usually reabsorbed from the stool giving the normal consistency. It is important not to give too much fruit juice to children with toddlers diarrhoea. In fact all fruit juice should be stopped. Also the child can eat fruit but not too much and preferably apples. It is also important for the child to eat a diet containing plenty of roughage such as Weetbix and brown bread.
