Q.

competing with my nanny

Hi

I sometimes feel like I''m competing with my nanny. My baby is about 12 weeks old and I have had assistance from the nanny since birth. I will be going back to work in march and sometimes feel that my baby girl will soon come to prefer the nanny over me. Although Somedays she already does.

How will my baby react to my not being around as much as I''d like to? I''m afraid of not being needed by my baby especially since I have just stopped breast feeding. Are these feelings normal?

Your feelings are perfectly normal and understandable. Your baby bonded with you from birth and certainly will not forget you.It is good to know that she has a loving and caring minder to look after her when you are at work.

You must be quite an insecure person. I am always thrilled when my child is very happy with a nanny or caregiver - I know my child is getting good care.

Your child will never stop loving you - the contstant person in their life, so work on your insecurity a bit, perhaps with the help of a psychologist.
