Cleaning of teeth - 10 month old

Hi Doc,
How do I clean my LO' s teeth. He is 10 months old and has 9 teeth(5 on top and 4 at the bottom). I am currently using glycerine to clean his mouth, and use the toothbrush (without any toothpaste).

Am I supposed to use toothpaste, and if so, which brand is recommended.

Thank you.

You should definitely be cleaning your baby's teeth now. You do not have to use a toothbrush as you can use a cloth, but the infant toothbrushes now available are very good. You also don't have to use a toothpaste but if you do use one this should only be a baby or infant toothpaste without flouride.Babies tend to swallow the toothpaste. Brush your baby's teeth twice aday. Brushing before bedtime is most important.
