Q.

chokes

My 10 mth old refuses to drink any water, juice , tea from his bottle or sippy cup but he will drink with a straw as thats the only way to get something down, the problem is that he chokes on the thin liquid , at times it goes down well other times he will choke terribly which is quite alarming and frightening. I have even tried to feed him water, juice etc with a syringe but he will still choke even when i just put very little at time although very time consuming but i am very worried that he does not take in any water and now every time i offer a milk bottle he thinks its juice in their and will not drink! I have tried constantly now i seek your help.

It is not clear from your description whether your baby seems to choke because she does not WANT to drink these fluids or she has been choking all along WHENEVER she DRINKS drinks any kind of liquid including milk. This does not sound like reflux. If she has been choking all along when ever she drinks she may have a condition called inco-ordinated swallowing reflex or another possible condition called vascular ring. Your baby should be seen and examined by a paediatrician.
