Q.

Children &  Thursh

Good morning doctor

My 5 year old step daughter has thrush. We collected her for the week and the mom gave me some cream for thrush and said I must put it on her daughter every morning and every evening. I never even knew children got thrush! Any idea what causes it and what is the best way to prevent it from occurring again?

Thank you

Children very commonly develop thrush, which is also known as candida, especially during infancy when they may develop thrush in the mouth. In older children little girl's may get vaginal thrush especially after being given antibiotics. Your stepdaughter will benefit from being given a good probiotic such as Probiflora Children's besides using the cream for her thrush.
