Chicken Pox-Help

My son came back from Durban last night. He stayed over at his cousin''s house who about 10 days ago had chicken pox and now I find out this morning that now her brother has it. What are the chances of him getting chicken pox. He is 5 years old and he has all his immunisations that is intended for his age. Is there anything I can give him to prevent him from getting it. I am really scared as I do have a 9 month old baby.
Thanx

Your 5 year old son has not had chicken pox and probably did not get the chicken pox vaccination as this is fairly new in SA. So he is at risk of getting chicken pox. He was exposed 10 days ago to chicken pox so this is still within the period that he may develop chicken pox.If your son is a normal healthy boy there is nothing that is usually done to prevent him from getting chicken pox.Keep him away from your baby if possible. He should wash his hands well at least 3 times a day and you should wash your hands before touching your baby. Your 9 month baby is at risk of getting chicken pox. If he does get chicken pox contact your paediatrician.
