Q.

chesty cough

my 2 year old has a bit of a chesty cough - and a very runny nose. have been giving her flusin, pholtex and chamaflor. is that right? or what should i giver her. her appetitie is down a bit too. how do you know when she needs the doc?

It sounds as if your little daughter has picked up a viral illness much like a bad cold , but with her chest involved as well. The cause is probably the RS virus and children are usually ill for about 5 days before starting to improve. Keep her nose clear using Salex nose drops twice daily and give her a probiotic to increase her immunity-use Probiflora children's chewable tablets, one daily for 10 days.Flusin contains an antihistamine and pseudoephedrine which causes irritablity and restlessness in young children. i'm no expert, but regarding apetite, scotts emulsion works wonders on my 2yr old...
