Q.

CHEST PAIN

My 15 year old son gets sharp chest pains when he gyms/ excercises. Is this normal? It is a short, sharp pain and doesn' t last long.

This is a very common form of chest pain found in active young men most often. It is due to spasm of an artery on the inside wall of the chest called the internal mammary artery. It has nothing to do with the heart. This pain is more common when one is a bit stressed. After a period the problem tends to disappear. No treatment is needed.
