Q.

Celestamine

Good day,

On the 5th May my ENT prescribed Orelox (5ml x2 pd) and 5ml Celestamine (once pd) for 5 days, my 2yr old had tonsillitis. On the 18th she started coughing and he prescibed another 5ml Celestamine 1xpd for 4 days and BronchoPed. One of the ingredients in the cough syrop made her talk in her sleep. On Monday, 24th I was back in his rooms as she hasn''t improved and he discovered she has acute earinfection. Another round of Celestamine for 5 days and Zinnat (5ml x 2pd). Surely this long period of Celestamine is not good for her liver? She has no appetite either and I can see she is loosing weight. I have her on Viral Guard to boost her immune system. Is there any other products I can use to help with her weight gain? She is on Isomil 3 as cows milk makes her wheezy and phlemmy.

I am very unhappy about your little girl having all of this Celestamine which is a powerful and long lasting cortisone medicine. It may have an effect her growth. A definite diagnosis of her illness needs to be made.It seems that her basic problem is an allergic nose condition. She also seems to be allergic to milk and may have some symptoms of early asthma. She should be seen by a paediatric allergist as soon as possible.
