Cause for concern???

Hi there

I am extremely worried - a friend''s child has been diagnosed with cellulitis. The child has redness and swelling in the labial area and had a blister below the labia. Now she apparently has blisters on her nose and chin.
I am extremely worried as this sounds like this may have been caused by sexual abuse - I could be wrong, perhaps she was exposed to bacteria. The mother is sure that there could not have been anyone who could have done anything to her child.

I am so worried and pray that my suspicions are not true. Is this cellulitis or could it be something more serious?

Your urgent response would be appreciated.

This does not sound like cellulitis but does sound like a herpes infection. Unfortunately this may well result from sexual abuse. It would be best for your friend to ask a paediatrician to examine her daughter.

That''s what it sounded like to me unfortunately... I was hoping to rule out that possibility
