Q.

calf cramps at night in 4 yr old?

Hi

My 4 year old has been waking up 3 or 4 times a week at night screaming of pain in the top of her foot. I was wondering could it be calf cramps that she is experiencing? Is there anything I can give her to relieve this? We have a history of high foot arches in our family, and I was wondering if it could be her arch changing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paediatrician

This is probably not due to calf cramps is such a young child. More likely is a form of growth pains which is common in little girls of this age.It is unusual that her feet are affected which is not the usual site for growth pains. To be on the safe side ask your paediatrician to see her.
