I am not sure if you started your baby on a cereal to start or if butternut was the first solid food you gave him. First get him used to cereal such as rice or maize, then introduce fruit [apple or pear] and then give him vegetables such as pumpkin. If you try biutternut again make sure that it is pureeed or very finely mashed as baby's of this age do not like coarse food.

Always start with fruit before veggies. Fruit is naturally sweet and will be easier to adjust to. But the Paed is right, rice cereal is your first choice - The Cerealac is the best one in terms of taste.

Is it quite runny? best is to make it really liquid with breastmilk or formula for the first while, and then add less as he gets used to it.
