Brushing 1 year old' s teeth

Morning doctor

My son is now 1 year and 2 weeks and he has got 6 teeth and 2 just cut through. I would like to know how and when do I start to brush his teeth? I have tried, but he doesn' t want me to brush his teeth (he closes his lips tightly), so I gave him a toothbrush to " play"  with. He will put it in his mouth and bite on it. What about toothpaste?

I am really trying to take care of his teeth (with no luck of course), but I dont want to force the issue too much either.

Please help me once again. Thanking you in advance.

You are doing very well and have gone about training your baby to allow you to start brushing his teeth. Make a game of it and have lots of patients. He will eventually let you brush his teeth when he is ready. You will need to use a baby and young children's tooth paste.
